Guide to Edgware
The district of Edgware is located in the London Borough of Barnet, approximately 9.5 miles from Charing Cross. Edgware is generally a suburban area and benefits from elevated woodland areas on the Hertfordshire border. The district is principally a residential and retail area and has a shopping centre, a hospital, a library and a bus garage. There are two streams in Edgware: Edgware Brook and Deans Brook, both of which are tributaries of the River Brent.
A number of schools serve Edgware, including London Academy, Holland House School, Broadfields Primary School, North London Collegiate School and Edgware Junior School. There are three school buses in circulation in the district. The tube stations in Edgware are Colindale, Burnt Oak and Edgware, all of which can be found on the Northern Line. 15 buses service Edgware, along with three night-time services.

Edgware’s shopping centre, The Broadwalk, is home to a plethora of stores, including M&S, WHSmith, Game, Holland and Barret and many more. There are several sports and fitness facilities in the Edgware area, including Barnet Burnt Oak Leisure Centre, LA Fitness and Canons Sports Centre, which is located in the landscaped grounds of North London Collegiate School. Within the sports centre is a fitness studio, multi-purpose sports hall, dance studios, an indoor swimming pool and 11 outdoor tennis courts. To the west of Edgware is Canons Park, which is listed as Grade II on the Register of Parks and Gardens and features several listed building. Within the park, there is a walled garden known as the King George V, an area that was originally part of the duke’s kitchen gardens. The garden has a central pool surrounded by a raised terrace, a pavilion and beautiful flower beds.
