0333 6000 060 My Chancellors Valuations

We take a look at a day in the life of a sales negotiator at our Chancellors branch in Headington, Oxford, in order to provide an example of the responsibilities, requirements, and skills needed within this role.

08:30
Arrive in the office, ready to get the day underway. First on the agenda is a morning meeting, where the team and I will review the previous day’s activities; a great opportunity to discuss any offers each negotiator has received and how many houses we have sold.

09:00
My day then starts by prioritising jobs for the day and making sure I can make the most effective use of my time. I will always use the first hour going through my viewings from the day before and making sure all my clients get the feedback from the viewings that took place. It’s very important that this is done and hopefully I can pass on any offers that were made as well.

10:00
Time for a quick coffee before I call my applicants who are currently on the lookout to buy a property in the Headington area of Oxford, to find out if they have seen anything they like and make sure their search criteria is still the same. This allows me to build up a strong relationship as they will be buying our clients’ properties. After an hour on the phone I’ve managed to secure seven viewings, which should be enough to generate an offer tomorrow. I always take the morning to make these phone calls, so I then have the rest of the day to convert the activity generated from days before.

12:00
Most of my afternoon consists of property viewings. On the second viewing the couple are really interested; they make an offer for the property. After the viewing I head back to the office to discuss this with my client, and hopefully secure a confirmed deal for the day. Taking applicants to properties is incredibly rewarding, giving you the opportunity to build a rapport with different people and really become part of their property move.

16:00
After my viewings I head back to the office, confirm my appointments for the following day and ensure all my important tasks have been completed. Then head home ready for the next day!

Headington is an incredibly busy office and marketplace, giving little time to sit around but a huge opportunity to generate revenue for the company and, of course, yourself as a negotiator. The whole team are very sales focused and we all love our friendly yet tough competition with one another and with colleagues in all our other estate agency offices across the company – we all work towards getting to the top of the performance league table. I find the job very rewarding, meeting new people every day and being able to assist in such an important decision in their lives.
