My Story: Road to Success at Chancellors

Edwin has worked with Chancellors since leaving university in 2003 and celebrated his 10th anniversary with us in 2013. After graduating from university, Edwin joined us as a trainee negotiator and has risen through the ranks managing a number of offices across Oxfordshire before taking responsibility at a regional level as well as heading up the company’s commercial division.

“I grew up around property as my father is a quantity surveyor in Oxfordshire and from a young age I was keen on a career in the property industry. After graduating from The University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne with a degree in Economics I wanted to combine the knowledge I had developed during my studies with my love of property.

Chancellors offered me an exciting opportunity to do just that and I jumped at the chance to join the biggest estate agent group in my area. In my early career a combination of hard work and enthusiasm meant I was able to take up a number of excellent opportunities for career progression. Firstly, managing a rural village office and subsequently two Oxfordshire market town offices before moving to Oxford City. For me this demonstrates one of the most attractive things about Chancellors, not only their approach to rewarding loyalty and hard work but also the number of opportunities that are available in a small geographic area for those who, like me, see estate agency as a career not just a job.

I have been fortunate to have a career full of great highlights and experiences. On a professional level achieving an Associate Director position within the company has been a fantastic reward for the effort I have put in. To be involved at this level within a company I have happily devoted my working life to is an honour. On a less work orientated level I must confess that as an avid skier the opportunity to join the team on the slopes as part of the annual awards trip has to go down as a particular highlight.

Despite being 15 years into my career with Chancellors, the opportunities still keep coming. Having the chance to set up our commercial department has provided a new set of challenges to me personally as well as added responsibility for a revenue stream within the business. The diverse nature of my day- to-day working life and the financial rewards that can be achieved through hard work have made for a great career. One which I hope continues well into the future.”
