Plans for a £4.5 million refurbishment of The Mall shopping centre in Camberley, Surrey have been approved by the borough council’s planning committee.

Capital & Regional, the Mall’s management company, is intending to start the refurbishment work within a year, once a contractor has been appointed, and the project is expected to last for 10 months. The majority of the work will be done in the evenings so trading isn’t interrupted.

The council believes the Mall has been very successful and the plans will bring the shopping centre up to date and make it even more attractive to shoppers and businesses. Plans include new lighting and flooring; alterations to columns and roof detailing; and contemporary materials added to shopfronts.

Improvements to The Mall are only part of the larger redevelopment plans for Camberley town centre which include some shopping expansion, improved parking facilities and residential development. The council has a clear vision for Camberley’s future and the modernisation of The Mall will ensure the overall town centre remains competitive.
