Crouch End is an area in North London, situated within the London Borough of Haringey. It lies 4.6 miles north of Charing Cross, and is 5.1 miles from the City of London. The area’s surrounding neighbourhoods include Hornsey, Muswell Hill and Stroud Green.
There are a number of notable buildings in Crouch End. These include Hornsey Town Hall, which has been used several times as a filming location for popular TV soap EastEnders. Other buildings of note are Crouch End Hippodrome and Hornsey Art School.
There are three secondary schools located in the N8 Crouch End area; Highgate Wood School, Hornsey School for Girls and the Greig City Academy. Additional provision is provided at Heartlands High School, which is located close to Crouch End between Wood Green and Alexandra Palace.
Ten primary schools serve Crouch End. These are: Ashmount Primary School, Campsbourne Primary School, Coleridge Primary School, North Harringay Primary School, Rokesly School, St Aidan’s, St Gildas, St Mary’s, St Peter-in-Chains and Weston Park.
In terms of transport, Crouch End is located close to the following Tube stations: Archway, Finsbury Park, Highgate and Turnpike Lane. The closest railway stations are Crouch Hill, Finsbury Park, Harringay Lanes Railway Station and Hornsey.

Crouch End has an impressive local arts scene. It is home to Crouch End Festival Chorus, a symphonic choir who have recorded with well-known names such as Alfie Boe, Bryn Terfel and Lesley Garrett, as well as featuring on the Doctor Who soundtrack.
Crouch End Festival is one of Britain’s biggest community arts festivals. Taking place annually, it includes art exhibitions, music, dance, drama, film, photography and poetry, as well as several market stalls. The festival also features an outdoor cinema, located in the Town Hall square.
The area has been the setting for many literary works, including Before I Go to Sleep by SJ Watson, Nick Hornby’s High Fidelity and Killer Camera by Anthony Horowitz. Crouch End has been the location for many film and TV works, such as Shaun of the Dead, Peep Show, Poirot, Spooks, Whitechapel and the original series of Cold Feet.
