English Tourism Week takes place between 29 March and 6 April this year – a week-long celebration that showcases the quality of visitor experiences we have right on our doorstep.

To celebrate and increase awareness of the variety of unique experiences available, we have put together our top 10 places to visit in Surrey during English Tourism Week.

These are great for the family and will keep kids entertained during the week or weekend trips. There are many free activities too, so enjoy!

Richmond Park
If you love woodland gardens, grasslands and wildlife, a visit to Richmond Park is perfect for you. In no time you will be lost in the beauty of the stunning Isabella Plantation woodland gardens, following which you can enjoy refreshments at the park’s restaurant, Pembroke Lodge.

Kew Gardens
Kew is known as one of London’s top visitor attractions. This is more than just an attraction though -today it is first and foremost a scientific institution and responsible for safeguarding the world’s future plant life.

Brooklands Museum
Brooklands Museum is where British motor racing got its wheels turning and gives visitors the chance to see an amazing collection of cars, motorcycles and bicycles. There is also a collection of historic London buses and aviation attractions, making it a great day out for all the family.

Hampton Court Palace
Hampton Court Palace is well-known among history experts for being where Charles I escaped imprisonment. There is a range of activities to enjoy, including the Hampton Court Maze and the Chocolate Kitchen, making it a tasty attraction in Surrey.

Virginia Water
Virginia Water is a constant reminder of the past, from the surrounding woodland dating from the 18th century, to the Leptis Magna Ruins, which is a ‘Roman Temple’ moved to its current site in the early 19th century. A must see!
