Expanding airport capacity at Heathrow Airport and the south east in general has been a laborious exercise in deliberation and pontification the likes not seen since Gordon Brown and Tony Blair fought over the Labour leadership in 1994.  A third runway at Heathrow Airport has now been approved with property prices likely to rise.

A visibly shaken Zac Goldsmith MP for Richmond Park is jetting off, forcing a by-election. There has also been some emotional baggage over this runway expansion from some constituents and those under the flight paths that are against the third runway.  There are Members of Parliament that additionally oppose the third runway meaning there is some turbulence likely ahead.

The expansion should however be a major boost for the UK economy and the property market as a result of the first new full-length runway in the south-east since the second world war.
