Aylesbury
An historic well is probably the last thing you’d expect to see in the basement of an estate agency office! As part of Aylesbury’s Heritage Open Days on 10 and 11 September 2016, you can discover the mystery of the well at our Aylesbury branch, 13 Market Square, just one of the many opportunities to get behind the closed doors to some of the town’s oldest and most fascinating buildings.

The Aylesbury Well was discovered in the cellars of 13 Market Square many years ago. There are numerous speculations as to why the well is in this place and what the purpose was. Between 10am and 4pm, join Graham Webster from The Aylesbury Society on a guided visit to the cellars to see the well and discover the mystery behind its existence.

Heritage Open Days celebrate England’s fantastic architecture and culture by offering free access to places that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission. Some tours in Aylesbury have to be pre-booked. For a full listing of locations; opening and tour times; accessibility and events, please pick up a leaflet in advance from Aylesbury Library, Bucks County Museum, Aylesbury Town Hall and from all locations taking part. Or visit www.heritageopendays.org.uk and search for Aylesbury in the town search.
