Twyford is a village and civil parish in the county of Berkshire, West London. The name Twyford is Anglo-Saxon in origin, literally meaning “double ford”. Theresa May lives in Sonning (near Twyford), which is part of her constituency. 

In 871 Alfred the Great and his army escaped their Viking pursuers by crossing the River Loddon at Twyford, following the first Battle of Reading.
