The large neighbourhood of Bushey Heath is located south-east of Bushey, a commuter town perched between Watford and the London Borough of Harrow. From modest beginnings, the high ground of Bushey Heath – which is up to 500 metres above sea level in places – has flourished into a sought-after location.
The area began life as wasteland, which was awarded to local families by the government in the early 19th century in a bid to encourage farming. However, the combination of its proximity to the London and Birmingham Railway and its splendid views of the surrounding area meant Bushey Heath soon drew the attention of housing developers.
