Rickmansworth is often shortened to ‘Ricky’, as used in the yearly Ricky Week celebrations that take place every May. At the end of Ricky Week, the Rickmansworth Festival takes place to remember the town’s canal history; the event is organised by Rickmansworth Waterways Trust. 

The town is home to The Aquadrome, which covers 100 acres of land including woodland areas, open grassland and lakes. There is also a café to enjoy refreshments and a children’s play area. 

There are a variety of sports clubs in Rickmansworth, including one of the oldest recorded clubs in England, Rickmansworth Cricket Club. Other sports facilities in the area include Rickmansworth Sports Club, Rickmansworth Golf Club and The William Penn Leisure Centre, which has a range of fitness amenities and an indoor pool.

Rickmansworth is a small town located in southwest Hertfordshire, around 20 miles from Central London, inside the perimeter of the M25. The closest town is Watford, around 5 miles to the east. 

There are a number of primary schools in the Rickmansworth area, including Arnett Hills JMI School, Shepherd’s Primary School, St Mary’s C of E Primary School and St John’s Catholic Primary School. 

Secondary schools include Rickmansworth School, St Joan of Arc Catholic School and The Reach Free School. Rickmansworth is also home to two independent schools: Northwood Prep School and the Royal Masonic School. 

Transport links to and from Rickmansworth include diesel-express trains from Marylebone Station to Aylesbury via Harrow-on-the-Hill, as well as electric metropolitan trains from London to Amersham via Baker Street. Access to Heathrow Airport can be gained via junctions 17 and 18 of the M25 motorway.
