Choosing the best primary school for your child is a process that requires a great deal of research and thought. A good basis to start from are recent Ofsted reports and league tables, but you also need to think about important factors like admission criteria, behaviour policy and feedback from other parents.

To get you started, we have picked out what we consider to be five of the best primary schools in the Oxford area:

1. Wolvercote Primary School
Wolvercote Primary School is a community school located just to the north of Oxford and offers a beautiful location for young children to be taught, with Port Meadow, the Oxford Canal and Wytham Woods right on the doorstep. Teachers aim to make the most of these natural learning environments for attending pupils.

In the recent Ofsted report, the school scored an overall ‘Good’ for pupil behaviour and safety, achievement of pupils, and quality of leadership. With Matthew Coatsworth as the current headmaster the school is also aiming to build on these previous successes.

The school aims to provide a brave, imaginative and exciting curriculum which allows children to thrive. There are also many extra-curricular and after school activities, including football and athletics clubs and other outdoor learning.
